ACAB ! La jeunesse emmerde le front national

 So I was indeed tear-gassed simply for exercising my right to protest. And I will never shut up about police repression and police violence. I've taken part in quite a few protests, especially student protests, and this is the first time I've seen the police tear-gas us with my own eyes, the very same police who are supposed, above all else, to protect us. We were just standing in front of the old city hall. My boyfriend and I had a front-row seat, so we could see with our own eyes that nothing was happening. The protesters were just standing there, and all of a sudden, tear gas canisters were fired at us. 

Police repression is becoming increasingly violent. This is by no means surprising. Statistics show that the majority of police officers are far-right; audio and video recordings have been released in which police officers can be heard saying that they enjoy assaulting leftists. 

I’m still writing this while somewhat in shock, because that was only the beginning of the violence. We couldn’t go home and ended up sleeping at a friend’s place right in the heart of the city, where violence and looting were everywhere. The people who smashed and looted the stores were NOT part of the protest, but the media doesn’t care, they just want to use it to discredit the protesters’ cause. 

I just wanted to let you know that I’m doing well and that I’m working on a detailed article with photos and video to document the entire day. 

I’ll never stop speaking out, and my heart goes out to France as it fights for a better life. There are movements taking place all over the world today, people have had enough. 

We are not trash.

While the president was at the Céline Dion concert, some people died, others had their hands torn off, lost their businesses, or were beaten up by the police. This is not normal. 

P.S.: If you get tear-gassed, it's very important to wash yourself thoroughly afterward, including your hair. Also, for people with hormonal disorders or menstrual issues, the gas can trigger your period and may also cause other problems, so please protect yourself. <3

Vive la révolution

 Just a quick, impromptu update, since I'm a good Frenchwoman who loves to protest, I'm going to take part in the biggest protest in France tomorrow, hehe. I hope I don't get tear-gassed, lol.

I recently saw this video essay that I really loved. It draws heavily on references that I’ve studied or am familiar with, which makes the video truly enjoyable.

It explores our search for identity, which is now being undermined by social media and other aspects of the modern world.

- catbox : This website lets you host files for free and indefinitely on the Internet. That way, I can include my PNG image in my code.

- w3schools : This site is so great for editing my code and seeing the results right away. It makes coding so easy.

Who I Am Not: Distorting Feminism and Femininity

I'd like to share another essay with you that I had to write in college. No use of AI. 

Celle que je ne suis pas :  Falsifier le féminisme et la féminité

Ce texte écrit par Itziar Zigar, militante féministe et journaliste espagnol, est publié dans son essaie autobiographie Devenir chienne publié en 2009 en espagnol et traduit en français en 2020.

Itziar Ziga commence par le témoignage raconté par une de ses amie, Irene Sala, qui remet en question les comportements genrées. Avec la phrase « La féminité et la masculinité sont deux pôles d’endoctrinement massif », l’autrice se positionne dès le début sur son refus de se conformer aux normes de genre. Elle et ses amies chiennes « résist[ent] à l’invisibilisation, par vengeance, plaisir et rage. ». Elle accuse « ce boucher de John Money » qui mis en place le protocole médicale de la réattribution sexuelle afin que les bébés puisse rentrer dans « l’un des deux seuls modèles que l’autorité hétéropatriarcale admet ». Persuadée qu’en élevant un garçon comme une fille selon les critères de la société, l’enfant se sentirait fille. Mais ce concept de genre à des failles et Iziar Ziga l’a compris quand elle dit « pas un seul être humain n’incarne sans fissure les prototypes du genre qui lui est assigné. ».

We all love Pinterest, but...

I wanted to post this article before taking a little break. Running a blog takes a lot of time, and since I still don’t have a job, it’s comforting, but I think I need to find a balance between my real life and my “online life.” I’m really stressed out by all these rejection letters, so… I don’t want any distractions this week, I just want to focus on my life and get my act together.

But before I disappear, I wanted to give you a few tips on how to make your blog look more “legal.”

I know we all love Pinterest, it’ll always be the #1 app for mood boards and aesthetic photos (even if there’s a huge amount of AI-generated images and ads…).

But you can’t just take any photo and post it on your blog… those images belong to someone else, and it’s not really legal to use them…

⚠️‼️Wanted notice for a bag‼️⚠️

Dear fashion divas, I need your help.

Ok soooo, a couple of weeks ago, I was browsing pinterest, looking for cute outfit inspo, when I found this bag :

And I was like "OMG IT'S SO CUTE!! WHERE CAN I FIND IT?😱" 

If you're also wondering what's the brand, it's the lulu guiness doll face bag. 

And I love bags, so far I have 3 bags, mainly because it's really hard to find good vintage bags in thrift stores. I also don't want to buy on vinted because I don't really trust anyone...

Cependant, si je trouve CE sac sur vinted, je l'achète dans la seconde. Il peut aussi avoir les cheveux noir, ce qui ne me dérange pas. 

Le plus difficile reste à le dénicher....il est introuvable ! Et c'est pour cette raison que j'ai décidé d’en faire ma quête secondaire (je devrais probablement faire un bingo des choses rare et spécifique que j'aimerai acquérir dans ma vie🤔).

Parce qu'en réalité, je n'ai pas besoin de ce sac pour exister, mais à chaque friperie, chaque vide grenier, dans chaque recoin de vinted, je le chercherai.

J'aime à penser qu'il est peut être là, quelque part, dans la garde robe de quelqu'un qui l'a oublié, et qu'il m'attend....

Is fast fashion for books real ?

Les livres. Quel bonheur de pouvoir se plonger pendant des heures dans une histoire jusqu'à en perdre la notion du temps. 

Je lis depuis que je suis toute petite, ma mère m'ayant inculqué sa passion pour la littérature, j'ai lu beaucoup de livres pour faire passer le temps et me plonger dans des univers différents. Je me souviens de ma collection préférée : Les chiots magiques. C'est d'ailleurs grâce à ce livre que j'ai eu envie d'avoir un labrador à l'âge de 10 ans et que l'on a accueilli Piafou dans nos vies, après le décès du chien de ma mère.

Bref, tout ça pour dire que je me sens à peu près légitime pour parler du sujet du jour. Evidemment, il reste très vaste, je pourrais tout aussi bien parler de notre rapport à la lecture, de la standardisation des publications, de la collection de plusieurs éditions du même livre, etc. Je pense que chaque sujet mérite son propre article. C'est pourquoi aujourd'hui, je vais uniquement me concentrer sur la standardisation des livres, la façon dont ils sont écrits pour être consommé rapidement et sans réel travail de fond (que ce soit de la part de l'édition, ou dans l'histoire en elle-même).

Parler de fast fashion pour un livre est extrêmement controversé et à juste titre. C'est pour cette raison que j'aimerais apporter de la nuance à pas mal de propos. Je comprends tout aussi bien la team "il n'existe pas de consommation excessive dans la lecture, au moins les personnes lisent, c'est de l'intellectualisme, etc" et la team "plus des livres de médiocre qualité sont mis en avant, plus des livres de médiocre qualité vont se faire éditer parce que c'est ce qui vend, à défaut de dénicher la prochaine personne qui a vraiment travaillé sur son livre".

Je voyais ce débat passer partout sur bookstagram et un peu sur booktok depuis des mois et des mois. Je ne fais d'ailleurs pas partie de la communauté de booktok, j'ai fait plutôt partie de bookstagram depuis le début de sa création. Mais pourtant, je sais très bien que mes recommandations sont très spécifiques et ne parlent pas à la majorité du bookstagram. J'ai surtout des recommandations dans le genre horreur, le gothique, le bizarre, etc. Comme je l'ai dit dans mon magazine, je ne lis pas de romance hétéro, mais j'ai eu l'impression que c'est surtout de ce côté-ci que le débat est le plus important.

C'est pourquoi je recommande cette vidéo de kidology que je trouve très pertinente et qui deepdive un peu plus que moi dans notre relation à la lecture, surtout la "smut" tik-tokification of reading, ce sur quoi je suis en tout point d'accord.
