༘⋆Who are you ? 🤔(youtube video essay)

I recently saw this video essay that I really loved. It draws heavily on references that I’ve studied or am familiar with, which makes the video truly enjoyable.
It explores our search for identity, which is now being undermined by social media and other aspects of the modern world.
I wanted to share it with you because I think it provides a very compelling socio-historical context, rich in references, that many other videos on the same subject fail to offer.

Here are all the sources she cites, which I simply copied and pasted from her caption :

Audre Lorde, "Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power" (1978) First delivered as a paper at the Fourth Berkshire Conference on the History of Women, Mount Holyoke College, August 1978. Collected in Sister Outsider (Crossing Press, 1984). Please buy the book.
RS Benedict, "Everyone Is Beautiful and No One Is Horny" Blood Knife, 14 February 2021 Theodor Adorno & Max Horkheimer, "The Culture Industry: Enlightenment as Mass Deception," from Dialectic of Enlightenment (1944) Theodor Adorno, "Culture Industry Reconsidered" (1963) Rayne Fisher-Quann, "micro-individuality" internet princess, 20 January 2023 harlsrana, "the paradox of craving to be seen but fearing being known"
Michel Foucault, Discipline and Punish: The Birth of the Prison (1975) on Bentham's panopticon The Age of Reason (dir. David MacDougall, 2004)
Neil Postman, Amusing Ourselves to Death (1985) - title inspo
Shoichi Aoki, FRUiTS magazine (1997–2017)
If you watched the video, I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments. 𑣲⋆
